E-Torque has developed two Serpentine Accessory Belt Systems for the XK engine. Our Main Belt System is for running the Aluminum Water Pump, the PowerMaster 165A Alternator, and the Sanden 7-Cylinder A/C Compressor. The Main Belt System can either include the A/C Compressor or not. Then we have a Power Steering Sub-System that handles the P/S Pump if you have power steering in your E-type. This pump is the LT1 GM style that has variable output. The Power Steering Sub-System has a crankshaft pulley that nests inside the Main System’s crankshaft pulley so that one is independent of the other.
The reason why a six-rib micro-v belt system is required is due to the torque that modern accessories place on the belt. A 165A Alternator is needed for EFI, as the main reason for ECU failures is voltage fluctuation and current spikes. Sophisticated electronic systems cannot tolerate too much of that before they blow up. When you think about it, your headlights draw 50A, your electric fan draws another 50A, your EFI system can draw up to 35A, your fuel pump can draw 15A, your blower fan can draw another 15A. As these systems come on and off the bus, they cause disruptions that a weak alternator cannot overcome. A high output accessory like a PowerMaster 165A Alternator or a seven cylinder A/C Compressor generate a lot of torque, which would overcome a single or double V-belt. And Power Steering Pumps are notorious for squealing when a single V-belt is used. These reasons are why the Automotive Industry invented the micro-V belt.
E-Torque has had the original E-type Crankshaft Bolt & Washer reproduced so that you can have your E-type looking as it did originally. Most of these bolts & washers are heavily pitted and need replacement but these parts are no longer available (NLA) and the later cars like the XJ6 used a long nut that was completely different. This hardware is included in the Serpentine Main Belt System.
